Well here we are again. At the point of opening up another brilliant space to work in, hold workshops and display a great range of beautiful items hand crafted in Yorkshire.
Stitch N Go opened on Monday 21st, providing a Professional garment alteration service for ladies and gents, as well as a dressmaking and designing service for anything from the smallest item to a wedding dress bespoke made just for you.
Adults workshops include many subjects too, from dressmaking for beginners to advanced, pattern cutting blocks, trousers to fit, and a range of creative crafts too.
All tutors are fully DBS checked and qualified in their field.
So much for running a little business in a lovely old arcade. It is really a great place to have a small business, set right in the middle of a middle sized town. Lots of lovely people have popped in to say hello and find out what we are doing here, intrigued.
We sell fabrics, some vintage remnants and some materials on the roll, especially plain colours
of various types. Dressmaking and tailoring is taking off well, plenty of work to keep me out of mischief. Tuition and workshops are also on the rise. It seems that all my contacts in the trade are doing well,
more people are buying sewing machines, and learning how to use them to make do and mend,
and also to make things from scratch. The creative bug has arrived again,
after lying dormant for many years.
The famous 'Pimp' coat for a lovely man who wanted to make a bit of a splash at a special occasion. He covered the hat himself with the fur fabric, and it really finishes the outfit off nicely, along with the suited look and the shades! You wouldn't like to meet up with HIM on a dark night, would you?
Great buzz around here, I keep getting inspired in all kinds of directions, there is so much to do. Not enough days in the week or hours in the day. I would like to campaign for a 3 day weekend.
More colour and splash to appear in the shop this week, those of you who pass by often will notice the difference.
Oh well, back to being chained to the sewing machine.......
Well, the shop is more or less sorted out and I have been in there working most of this week. Got a bit more titivating to do around the window. It is a lovely place to work, lots of nice shops in the arcade, mostly small businesses run by enthusiastic individuals or couples. It has a great atmosphere in there, friendly and welcoming. Pop in and see me when you're in the area.
My sign has been put up over the shop, adds something special, and it is exactly right for the kind of stuff I offer. I am also very excited about the fact that I make accessories to sell directly, both in the shop and online.
Website is still a work in progress, getting there (like British Rail.....!)
